Leather lacing in practice
Flat lacing has a long history and has proven over the centuries that it can easily stand the test of time.
In addition to being a decorative technique, it is very practical as it greatly increases the durability of a given product. It may be surprising to many, but archaeological excavations still find prehistoric leatherwork products that are almost in perfect condition.
And there is hardly a stronger argument for passing on traditional techniques. That's why we also preferred lacing when making a custom-made sabretache as shown below.
